THE LIVES WE WEAR IN A CITY ON EDGE

In DC we’re all wearing a story, but we rarely get a chance to actually stop and hear the stories of others who are showing up in the lives they wear daily. This intimate evening brings together two men who both grew up in DC, but wear very different lives.
Fighting fires for nearly 30 years, Roderick Mitchell shares a powerful story of how putting on a firefighter uniform to serve the city, wasn’t always helpful in putting out the fires he faced personally, and in the field. Beside him sits Isaiah Taylor who shares a heart-wrenching story of how wearing a prison uniform for 31 years took nearly everything from him but his desire to create something beautiful.
Joined by a small, intimate group at Creative Grounds in NW DC these two light the room on fire while sharing a commitment to winning despite the odds.
An evening presented and produced by The Great 8 Tour, this night is small but mighty and hopefully the start of a healthy community conversation, that will continue to grow. See clips and photos from the night and learn how to stay connected with the featured guests below.

When you live in a city where sirens don’t take a day off, it’s easy to become immune to the noise. But what happens when you’re responsible for bringing the noise down? For nearly three decades, that’s exactly what Roderick Mitchell did. As a firefighter, on the streets of DC he responded to an uncountable number of incidents in the city.
